Paul has broad interests in understanding brain organization and function, ranging from metabolism in neurons and astrocytes and the neurochemistry of chemical synapses to diagnostic assessments for mental disorders. He is generally interested in science, scientific methodologies and research design. He has been formally trained in three disciplines: mechanical engineering, statistics, and philosophy. His multi-disciplinary background serves as a foundation for engaging in inter-, trans-, and multi-disciplinary research in psychology, psychiatry, and neuroscience.
