David Perez is a 2003 graduate of Columbia College, Columbia University with a degree in Neuroscience & Behavior. He conducted his undergraduate research in the neurobiology of learned safety in Dr. Eric Kandel’s laboratory. Subsequently, David graduated from New York University School of Medicine where he continued to investigate learned safety in humans using functional MRI techniques.

David is in the latter stages of dual neurology-psychiatry residency training and is a current member of the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program. His current research interests including functional neurologic syndromes, particularly psychogenic nonepileptic seizures, and related somatoform-dissociative disorders. He has also actively engaged in several research projects within the Functional Neuroimaging Laboratory characterizing neural circuit disturbances in PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Schizophrenia.
